She wanted to share why she wanted to have a session...

"There was so many reason for me to do this! Woman wear so many hats! I wear so many in a day mom, daughter, sister, partner, nurse, mental health advocate, and domestic violence survivor.

I stayed in a toxic relationship to try to make sure his kids were safe. Trauma bonding is a thing. Leaving takes strength, but so does enduring it to get children to safety. I know so many warrior woman who share similar stories. Abusive parents, partners, family members.

Survivors are a brand of their own. We suffer in silence, long after the threat is gone. When I was finally back on my feet I was hit with the hardest truth I ever had to digest. The word Cancer at 28. Breast cancer. Months of treatment. Being told they had to take it all, but then finding a doctor that had other options.

The day I found out I won my session, I cried. I cried the next day at radiation to my nurse navigator about how excited I was to celebrate my body and everything I have been through, but was so nervous of the reality of seeing my body differently after extreme weight loss. Photo viewing was the best day ever. I have never felt more amazing.

We have all gone through difficult times. You will go through many changes, even in your body. But you only have one body! Enjoy it in every phase. That's what my counselor said! So I will be coming back to see Valerie and her team so I can continue to document my body in its many shapes and phases! I want to bear it all and I know Valerie would be the perfect person for the job!"
